Rosso di Montalcino

13,5%

A Rosso di Montalcino DOCG from the Selezioni del Fondatore collection, a youthful sibling of Brunello prized for its freshness and structure.

Rosso di Montalcino DOCG

Rosso comes from the same area of origin as the prestigious Brunello di Montalcino, sharing the same Mediterranean climate and also based on 100% Sangiovese. However, Rosso di Montalcino is released sooner and is therefore more youthful than Brunello.

Region

Selected hillside vineyards, surrounding the town of Montalcino, in the province of Siena, in the famous Tuscany wine region.

Variety: 100% Sangiovese Grosso | Style: Still Wine

Alcohol Graduation: 13,5% | Serving Temperature: Between 17 and 18°C

Tasting Notes

It expresses flavors of black cherry and wild-berry fruit, and careful use of oak revealed in a hint of spice and vanilla. Like its Montalcino sibling, these are full-bodied wines made from 100-percent Sangiovese. However, it is considered a more vivacious style of wine than Brunello, combining freshness with structure, and can be approached at a much earlier age.

Food Pairing

Ideal with pasta with red sauce, structured meat dishes, game and seasoned cheeses.

Technical Information

Vinification is in stainless steel tanks with controlled temperature. Wine undergoes an aging process in oak barrels, then barriques and tonneaux, and finally in bottles.
